Reels2Recipes
Privacy Policy
Effective September 30, 2026
Reels2Recipes turns cooking videos and recipe web pages into recipes you can save, shop for and cook from. The app and service are run by Silva Peak Labs LLC, a Massachusetts limited liability company ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us process it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.
The short version: we collect what we need to run your recipe library. There are no ads, no tracking SDKs, and we do not sell or share your personal information for advertising.
What we collect
Account information. When you sign in with Apple or Google, our sign-in provider receives your email address and, if you share it, your name. With Sign in with Apple you can choose to hide your email, and we then receive a private relay address. Our database stores an internal account identifier from the sign-in provider, your account status, and when the account was created.
Links and text you give us. The links you share to the app (for example an Instagram, TikTok or Facebook video, or a recipe web page), and any caption text you paste when a video cannot be read. We use a pasted caption to build that recipe and clear it when the job finishes.
Recipe content we create for you. For each recipe we store the source link, the platform, the creator's public handle, display name and profile picture link, the recipe itself (title, description, ingredients, steps, equipment, tags and notes), a thumbnail link, one still frame from the video, and any nutrition estimate you request. To write the recipe, our service transcribes the video's spoken audio and reads the post's caption. It uses both only while it builds the recipe and does not keep them.
A temporary copy of the video. To read a video, our service downloads a copy of it and deletes the copy as soon as it has been transcribed and a few still frames have been taken. We keep one still frame as the recipe's picture.
Your library. Folders, shopping list items, pantry checks, recipe preferences and edits you make. If you share a library with other members of a household, they can see the recipes in it.
Subscription status. If you subscribe, Apple handles payment. We and RevenueCat receive a record of your purchase and whether your subscription is active. We never receive your card or bank details.
Technical data. Our hosting providers process your IP address and standard request information to deliver the service and protect it from abuse. We keep processing records for each recipe job (such as which step failed) to fix problems.
On your phone. The app keeps a copy of your library on your device so it works offline. If you send a shopping list to Apple Reminders, that happens on your device with your permission, and we do not receive your reminders.
Why we use it
- To sign you in and keep your library private to you and your household.
- To turn the videos and pages you share into recipes, and to show the original creator and a link back to their post.
- To provide optional features you ask for, such as nutrition estimates and shopping handoff.
- To manage your subscription and restore purchases.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix errors.
- To comply with the law.
We do not use your data for advertising, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Who processes it for us
We use these service providers. Each receives only what it needs for its task.
- Supabase: sign-in and account sessions (your email address and name, if shared).
- Neon: our database, which stores your account identifier, library and recipes.
- Vercel: hosting for our API and these web pages.
- Fly.io: hosting for the service that downloads videos, holds the temporary video copy while it is read, and stores the still frame.
- OpenAI: converts a video's audio into a transcript.
- Anthropic: writes the structured recipe from the transcript, caption, a few still frames or the web page text, and produces nutrition estimates.
- xAI: a backup for the same recipe and nutrition work when Anthropic is unavailable.
- Instacart: when you tap the Instacart option, receives the recipe title and ingredient list to build a shopping page.
- RevenueCat: manages subscription status on our behalf.
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, in-app purchases and the App Store.
- Google: Sign in with Google.
We send these providers your content and data only to deliver the service to you, and we require them to protect it at a level at least equal to this policy. When you open a retailer link such as Walmart or Amazon, you visit that retailer's site directly, and its own privacy policy applies. When our service fetches a video or page you shared, the site that hosts it sees a request from our servers, not from you. When you tap play on an Instagram recipe, our servers look up where Instagram hosts that reel's video, and the app plays it straight from Instagram's servers. We don't download or keep it. For TikTok and Facebook, or if that doesn't work, the app loads the post's official player from Instagram, TikTok or Facebook. Either way that platform receives your IP address and device information under its own privacy policy. The player keeps no cookies between plays and is not signed in to your account there.
We may disclose information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the business, in which case this policy continues to apply.
How long we keep it
- Video copies: deleted as soon as the recipe is written, usually within a minute of download. Videos play from the original post.
- Recipes, still frames and your library: kept until you delete them or delete your account. Deleting a recipe erases its content from our service right away, keeping only a record that it was deleted so your devices stay in sync. Its still frame is erased shortly after.
- Account deletion: when you delete your account in the app, we delete your account and its data right away. Copies in our database backups are removed as those backups expire, within 30 days.
- Provider logs: our hosting and processing providers keep short-lived operational logs under their own retention schedules.
Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Cancel it in your Apple ID settings. See our Support page for the steps.
Your choices and rights
You can view and edit your recipes in the app, delete any recipe, and delete your account at any time from Settings.
To get a copy of your data, tap Export my data in Settings. The app saves one file with your recipes, folders, shopping list, pantry checks, settings and account email, which you can read, print or bring to another app. Some records are not in that file, such as the links you submitted and processing logs. Email us for a copy of those records.
You can also email us to correct your data or to delete it. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, such as the right to know what we hold about you, to object to certain processing, or to complain to your local data protection authority. We will not treat you differently for using these rights. We respond to verified requests within the time the law requires.
You can revoke the app's access to your Apple or Google account from your Apple ID or Google account settings.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to your library requires your signed-in account, and still-frame links are signed and expire after a few minutes. No system is perfectly secure, and we will notify you as the law requires if a breach affects your data.
Children
Reels2Recipes is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
